GENE How Can You Ask For More? Part One

This here is part one of my personal 2CD-"BEST OF"-compilation - in alphabetical order to release the songs of the "album-predefined-chronology-setting-emotions".
I really loved GENE and still do. But they definitely had their downs (in terms of songwriting).
I have been to a concert once and it was funny to see Martin Rossiter there as he looks quite like me. (Or the other way round - but I think I was here first!)

This one is a record the massively inspired me especially during the recording of our album back in 1996. I used to sing in a band and I usually listened to JACK on the way to the sessions.

THE PEARLFISHERS (with the Tallpop Sinfonia) – Live at the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow – January 1999

Happy New Year, all.

Although I'm quite busy at the moment (about to be moving house very soon) I cannot stand to see my blog lay waste like this although the number of visitors didn't change much without new stuff to be posted.
Funny...
Now this is a rarity and was made possible by MIKE and (in the first place) DAVID SCOTT of course.

DOT DASH

My new favourite band and it will be yours too, soon.
To me they do sound very much like BIFF BANG POW only more contemporary. And I think there is nothing that can be more CREATION-like than this - considering that ALAN McGEE, Mr. BIFF BANG POW, founded the CREATION label. (Which is my favourite label besides FONTANA.)

DOT DASH is a post punk pop band from Washington D.C.
If this bio had one of those “RIYL/Recommended If You Like” sections, it might drop names like THE JAM, JOY DIVISION, or THE BYRDS… or perhaps it would bring up an apparent appreciation by Dot Dash for the ancient sounds of the POSTCARD, WHAAM and early CREATION labels…
But those kinds of judgments can really only be made by you, the listener.
As is often the case, Dot Dash has a whole “they are ex-members of” thing going on:
Guitarist/singer Terry Banks and bassist Hunter Bennett were in punky power poppers JULIE OCEAN.
Before that, Terry was in a bunch of jangly guitar bands, including THE SATURDAY PEOPLE, TREE FORT ANGST, GLO-WORM and ST. CHRISTOPHER.Guitarist Bill Crandall was in the mod/pop band MODEST PROPOSAL.
Drummer Danny Ingram began musical life in Dischord-label punks YOUTH BRIGADE before moving on to STRANGE BOUTIQUE and, later, U.K. guitar-wranglers SWERVEDRIVER.
Dot Dash plays shows, mostly around D.C., but occasionally out of town, whenever they can. In the recent past they’ve opened for Urge Overkill, The Godfathers, The Trash Can Sinatras, and The Capstan Shafts, among others.
SPARK>FLAME>EMBER>ASH is released by Canadian indie label The Beautiful Music.
Have a listen and love DOT DASH with me:
